Why preview the code in 3D before printing
A flat preview cannot show how the code looks on a real object. A 3D scene removes most post-print surprises.
What only 3D reveals
- Size next to real objects — beside a cup, pen or box you instantly see whether the code is too small.
- Viewing angle — on a table tent the code tilts upward, so guests see it differently than on screen.
- Contrast under light — shadows and warm light expose pale colours that looked fine on a monitor.
- How it sits in the space — a dark frame can vanish on a dark table while a light one stands out.
Scenes
| Scene | What to check |
|---|---|
| Café table | Whether the table card reads from a guest’s seat |
| Business cards | Code size on a standard card and front-back pairing |
| Poster | Whether the framed code is noticeable from a distance |
| Packaging | Whether the label stands out on kraft cardboard |
| Shop window | Whether a window sticker reads from the street by day and night |
| Scanning | How the code looks in a guest’s phone camera |
A mockup is also a ready image for client approval or a social post: clients sign off a table card they can see on a table far faster than a flat file.
Background, holder and your own artwork
| Setting | Options |
|---|---|
| Background | Interior · studio in any colour · no background (transparent PNG for decks and marketplaces) |
| Interior | Brick loft · light Scandinavian · dark restaurant |
| Table holder | Acrylic stand · paper tent card · wooden block · menu book · flat sheet · table sticker |
| Surface | Oak · walnut · marble · concrete · linen tablecloth |
| Light and angle | Day or evening · 3/4, front, top, close-up |
| Artwork | The current studio design or your own file — for example, a complete menu |
Props such as the cup, glass, flowers and notebook can be switched off so only your printed piece stays in frame.
Getting a great shot
- Choose the frame and colours before opening the scene — the mockup uses the current design.
- Rotate so the code faces the camera; very steep angles distort the pattern.
- Zoom with the wheel or a pinch until the object fills most of the frame.
- Press “Download mockup” — the image is saved at a higher resolution.
